What is the best type of guitar slide to use when playing country music?

I’m looking to buy a slide and I would like to buy one that is typically used when playing country music. I would like to know which type of slide (either glass or metal) is usually used when playing country music.
I understand that a slide is not typically used to play country music but if it was I want to know what type would be the best to use?

Personally, I prefer metal slides though other people prefer glass slides. As long as you’re comfortable using whichever slide you buy, it doesn’t matter what genre you’re playing. If it’s any help, however, pedal steel players and resonators most often use some type of a steel bar so a metal slide is probably what you’re looking for, though you should try out both a metal and a glass slide just to see which you prefer.

Some guitarists also like to switch between glass and metal slides. For instance, while playing acoustic, someone may prefer a metal slide but, while playing electric, that same person may prefer a glass slide.

Anyway, just like which guitars, amps, effects and strings you use, what type of slide you use is nothing but a matter of personal preference. Just make sure you TRY IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT, no matter what you’re buying. With a slide, you don’t want one that’s either too big or too small!
